Lutzie 43 5K Road Race

The Town of Bluffton hosted its first Lutzie 43 Road Race on August 3, 2019. The 5K course was run through Bluffton’s Old Town Historic District.

The Lutzie 43 Foundation started the Road Race in 2014, shortly after Philip Lutzenkirchen’s passing. The race is hosted in Marietta, Georgia, Philip’s hometown, but has grown over the past years to feature remote runs from everywhere in the country.

A portion of Bluffton runner registrations goes towards providing a Lutzie 43, PFL (Prepared for Life) Scholarship to one local Bluffton student. The Road Race has grown to several cities over the past five years to include Chicago, Miami, San Diego, Bluffton, Indianapolis, Birmingham, Montgomery, Nashville and more. Runners not participating with a group can still take part in the run with their family and friends.
